Junior Stragglers
I thought I would run with Child 3 (age 6) tonight. Junior Stragglers at the Hawker Centre is great fun. A 2km course, where the children have a time handicap. Child 3 moaned all the way round and quit at 1.6km. Child 2 (age 6) and child 3 (age 9) crossed the line together in third place. After the "photo finish" the judges awarded the 3rd place to Child 2 (age 6). So I had one happy child and two miserable children. "Great fun!" Ah well they will have to learn to deal with disappointment in life soon enough. Away for a G&T to relax.

Back to work with a bang
It is never easy coming back from a holiday but I was so busy I struggled to get a run in. Went to the gym and did 3 miles before I felt guilty and had to go back. Hopefully, tomorrow is easier.

Junior Parkrun
Well started the day off with an 8 mile run around Richmond Park at 8am. Came home and only one of the boys want to do the Junior Park run in Bushy Park at 11am. Well done Will! The six year old did the 2km in 12 minutes, I just about kept up with him. He is definitely the more talented.

Finally a picture
This was the first day of Juneathon. This is me outside our (rented) French Chateau. This year's picture has been taken at a distance to hide the "pot" belly. A lot smaller than at the start of Janeathon!
So left France at 8am, managed to sweet talk a French lady into getting us on an earlier train. Made it home at 3pm, a quick trip to Sainsburys then out for a quick 5k in the park. I see the weather here has been sunny too.
Tomorrow a lap of the Park.

Still no pictures
I have been having some problems getting pictures up onto the blog. I think it is because I am doing everything through an iPad. So when I get home tomorrow I will try and add some images of Normandy.
So it was my final run in Normandy, quite sad. A cloudless sky but with a strong breeze. Especially when I turned to head back. The pace dropped from 8minutes miles to 9.5 minute miles. Or maybe it was all the baguettes and cheese I have been having! Anyway, another 3 miles onto the pile.
Next stop blighty!

Hot hot hot - Nothing like Scotland
Running in 30 C today so didn't go as far as I wanted. Managed 3 miles. Interestingly, didn't see many poppies today, but lots of thistles! Reminds me of my childhood in Scotland. Apart from the weather obviously.

Running in Normandy
Well, for those following my previous blog during Janethon, you will be disappointed to learn that I had a bad VLM. A poor 4hours 27mins. So I have retired from Marathons to Half Marathons. Juneathon is an opportunity to work towards Cologne in October.
I start Juneathon in Northern France. Lovely weather in Normandy running along road with poppies on either side. Managed 3.5miles on French roads avoiding the French drivers and more importantly French dogs.

A short run and short post. Only a mile on the treadmill then 40m Plyometrics. Quite tired.
